Охота за кавычками в Windows

Введение

Существует проблема быстрого добавления правильных кавычек в русском языке. В Windows по умолчанию в русской раскладке используются кавычки вида “”. Они не имеют определенной языковой классификации, используясь в программировании. Сам факт этого уже странен сам по себе; получается, что правильно писать на родном языке возможности нет.

Сочетания клавиш для их «быстрого» вызова не удобны и доступны далеко не в любом случае. Хочется иметь доступ к правильным кавычкам на уровне остальных.

По совету умных товарищей обратил внимание на следующее программное обеспечение. Начнем с «родного» корректора раскладок клавиатуры от Microsoft.

Последний Linotype Font Explorer X для Windows

Как обещал выкладываю последнюю версию Linotype Font Explorer X для Windows. Это относительно стабильная бета. Хорошо работает на Wndows XP SP3, замечено, что на “левых” сборках — типа Zver — запускается с ошибками и в дальнейшем не функционирует.

Shell objects and general folder/Windows Explorer shortcuts
For a selected object:
• F2: Rename object
• F3: Find all files
• CTRL+X: Cut
• CTRL+C: Copy
• CTRL+V: Paste
• SHIFT+DELETE: Delete selection immediately, without moving the item to the Recycle Bin
• ALT+ENTER: Open the properties for the selected object
To copy a file
Press and hold down the CTRL key while you drag the file to another folder.
To create a shortcut
Press and hold down CTRL+SHIFT while you drag a file to the desktop or a folder.

True Type Fonts

Общая информация
Как не странно, тип шрифтов, используемый как системный в MS Windows®, был разработан компанией Apple и обнародован в 1990-м году. Главным разработчиком True Type Fonts является Сампо Каасила (Sampo Kaasila). Сейчас True Type шрифты используются как в MS Windows так и в MacOs X®.

Для описания контуров TTF-шрифтов тоже используются кривые Безье (Pierre Bezier). Компанией Microsoft для качественной прорисовки TTF cоздана специальная технология ClearType, реализованная в Windows XP® и Windows Vista®.
В отличие от Type 1 True Type Fonts (TTF) поддерживают стандарт Unicode, но на практике большинство европейских производителей шрифтов ограничивается меньшим набором символов Latin 1.

Зачастую, True Type шрифты на экране выглядят хуже своих PS-собратьев. Это связано с тем, что процесс прорисовке на экране TTF-шрифтов достаточно сложен и, соответственно, требует дополнительных ресурсов. Поэтому производители программных продуктов часто урезают соответствующие алгоритмы.

Отдельного упоминания заслуживает шрифтовой процессор нового поколения, встроенный в MacOs X. Он позволяет работать как с SFNT-фалами, так и напрямую с .ttf, созданными для MS Windows®.

Файловый формат.
Для MS Windows TTF-шрифт представляет из себя один файл с соответствующим расширением, а для MacOs это suitcase-файл с ресурсом SFNT. На его иконке изображена одна литера «A». Если файл включает в себя набор TTF-шрифтов, то у него будет расширение .ttc и на иконке будут 2 литеры «T».
Компанией Microsoft разработана технология внедрения TTF в web-страницы. При этом обычно файл шрифта имеет расширение .eot

Выводы
TTF – очень распространенный формат, применяющийся для экранного представления. Стандарт шрифтов для Internet. В DTP не применяется.
