Pixel art is a form of digital art, created through the use of raster graphics software, where images are edited on the pixel level. Graphics in most old (or relatively limited) computer and video games, graphing calculator games, and many mobile phone games are mostly pixel art.

1. Учите основы ИЗО и практикуйтесь с традиционными материалами. Все навыки и знания применяемые в рисунке и живописи применяются и в пиксельарте.
2. Начинайте с маленьких спрайтов. Самая сложная часть — как уместить множество деталей на нескольких пикселях, не создавая огромных спрайтов (это требует времени).
3. Учитесь по работам любимых художников и не бойтесь быть неоригинальным. Применение приемов из чужих работ — лучший способ обучения. Свой стиль придет со временем.
4. Если у вас нет планшета, приобретите. Напряжение от постоянного кликанья мышкой это невесело и не впечатлит ни одну леди (ну, или парня). Я использую крошечный Wacom Graphire2, который замечательно мне подходит: он занимает мало места на столе, а также весьма мобилен smile.gif Хотя вам может быть будет работать комфортно с большим. Сначала попробуйте.
5. Делитесь вашими творениями с другими и получайте отзывы. Кто знает, может быть вы обзаведетесь несколькими новыми помешанными друзьями.

GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It works on many operating systems, in many languages. Essentially a free Photoshop. With even more roundabout ways to get stuff done. It’s said that it can animate, but I never figured it out. I couldn’t even figure out how to mix my own colors. I only ever used it for tracing scanned drawings.
